After years of hoarding fabric and only sewing when I needed something “special” (read Costume), I’ve decided to dump everything and everybody and make sewing my #1 priority. 🙂
A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right?
Must we give up our lives and who we are to other more pressing issues simply because we’re wives and mothers? Heck NO! So, I’m shifting gears.
I can still read (#1 hobby at the time) and sew. I’ve been listening to audiobooks for years now. I can still get on the Internet (#1 time waster). Only now I’ll read sewing blogs. You should never stop learning. 🙂 I can still garden. Hmm. Since my back gardens look like a weed haven, I guess I can simply concentrate on the front yard. After all, who sees those back gardens anyway. With just the front yard to work on that means less time gardening – more time sewing.
The men in my house are old enough to fend for themselves so I stopped cooking on a regular schedule years ago. As long as I keep the pantry filled, what do they have to complain about? They still get Sunday dinner. No cooking, more time to sew. I haven’t exactly been writing (that next best-seller) so now I can concentrate on that. So what if I’m writing about sewing. It’s writing, isn’t it?
There ya have it. My plan to get back to back in the sewing saddle (and improve my wardrobe). Sounds like a plan.
In the next post I’ll show you what I’m making for my first jacket of the year.
So tell me, have you given up something you love? A hobby? A friend? Tell us about it.
